National Minister of Transport Jeff Radebe is to officially launch the Western Cape leg of the Safer Easter Programme on Sunday - 10 April 2006.The programme is jointly co-ordinated by the Departments of Community Safety and Transport and Public Works in the Western Cape.

The event takes place at the Joostenberg Vlakte turn off on the N1 national road ( when taking the N1 from Cape Town and first turn off to the left.)

Provincial MEC for Community Safety Leonard Ramatlakane and that of Transport and Public Work Marius Fransman will also attend the event.

The programme coincide with safety plans led by both the Departments of Community Safety and Transport and Public Work in ensuring that Western Cape roads are safer during the Easter holidays .

Various other stakeholders ranging from the long distance taxis and bus industry will also attend.

The event starts at 11:00 am.
