Lotto Groundbreaking for Oncology
22 April 2005
SOURCE: Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital (Department of Health, Provincial Government of the Western Cape)
The new world-class National Lottery Oncology Unit will provide not only excellent working conditions for the dedicated staff, but also ample space and comfort for the little patients receiving treatment and their families.

There is more space around the bedside areas, there are play areas, a dining area and private consulting rooms

The larger spaces between beds will prevent cross infection and there will be an isolation facility for patients who have undergone bone marrow transplants.

Here are some comments from the oncology ward staff:
  • "Two procedure rooms will cut down delays for children waiting for their treatment." PN Helen Laatz
  • "The filing room will ensure records are found quickly and painlessly." CPN Felicity Douglas
