This Act establishes a legislative framework for the promotion of black economic empowerment, empowers the Minister to issue codes of good practice and to publish transformation charters and establishes the Black Economic Empowerment Advisory Council.  >

This was developed through the combined effort of government and the mining and minerals industry with the aim 'to create a mining industry that will proudly reflect the promise of a non-racial South Africa'. Companies involved include: Anglo American, Sappi, Sanlam, Murray & Roberts, Richemont and Eskom.  > 

A document that details how mining companies can self-monitor over a set of years to achieve empowerment, ownership and equity objectives. This was developed over seven months by stakeholders in the mining sector and the Department of Minerals and Energy.  >
