Internships for Business Skills Trainees
DESCRIPTION:
Trainees who have successfully completed one of the provincial Department of Social Development's training programmes may be selected for a one-year internship at an affiliated organisation.

A range of intern positions are opened each year, for example, administrative staff, caregiver or community developer.

Partner organisations
Internships are offered at the following organisations:
  • Afrikaanse Christelike Vroue Vereniging (ACVV)
  • Association for Persons with Disabilities
  • BADISA
  • Child Welfare South Africa
  • Nicro

Duration
Internships last a year. Some interns have, in the past, been offered permanent positions with the organisations after the year was completed.

Remuneration
Interns are given a small stipend to cover their living costs for the duration of their internships. In 2007, the stipend was R1 200 a month.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Selection criteria
Interns are selected from participants in one of the provincial Department of Social Development's training programmes. The CVs of suitable candidates are sent to the Department, which in turn sends it on to the relevant organisations for selection.
