Applying for Funding as a Feeding Scheme
DESCRIPTION:
The Department of Social Development funds a number of feeding schemes for the poor throughout the Western Cape.

These feeding schemes provide sustinence to the poorest communities, but they also act as entry points to subsistence programmes like food gardens, which aim to enable people to feed and take care of themselves.

Feeding schemes seeking funding from the Department will need to prove that:

  • A feeding scheme is needed in the target location
  • The proposed feeding scheme speaks to the target group (e.g. if it will service a largely Islamic population, it must serve Halaal food)
  • They are a registered NPO/NGO in terms of the Nonprofit Organisations Act (Act 71 of 1997)
  • Their services do not discriminate against any population group.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Applications for funding as a feeding scheme should be made to the District Office of the area that the feeding scheme is expected to service.
