Non-profit and non-governmental organisations that provide HIV/Aids-related services can apply for funding from the provincial Department of Social Development.
1. WHO CAN APPLY FOR FUNDING? An organisation is eligible for funding if it is registered as a non-profit organisation in terms of the Nonprofit Organisations Act (Act 71 of 1997). 2. WHAT KIND OF HIV/AIDS-RELATED SERVICES GET FUNDING? The HIV/Aids-related services funded generally fall into the following categories:

3. WHEN TO APPLICATIONS OPEN? Applications for funding are considered once a year. Applications open in January. The deadline is usually end February. Keep an eye out for calls for applications in local newspapers and communications from organisations such as the Networking Aids Community of South Africa (NACOSA) for details. 4. WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE WHEN APPLYING FOR FUNDING?
5. WHAT IF MORE FUNDING IS NEEDED DURING THE YEAR? The Department does not provide ad hoc funding throughout the year. However, if it sees that a funded NGO/NPO is in need of training, materials or similar support, it will contract another NGO or private-sector company to run a short-term capacity-building programme. 6.
