Children's Homes
DESCRIPTION: |
The provincial Department of Social Development registers, helps fund and monitors Children's Homes. All Children's Homes take in abandoned children and children in need of care. |
INSTRUCTIONS: |
Children are ordinarily placed in Children's Homes by social workers working at welfare organisations. An investigation is first carried out into the circumstances of the child, and alternative placement in foster care or adoption is found not to be possible.The Western Cape has a number of registered Children's Homes. |
