The City of Cape Town is setting the process in motion to attain international accreditation for its laboratory services.

The City's laboratories inter alia monitor the quality of the City's potable water, industrial effluent, air pollution and support water purification processes as well as waste water treatment and waste management.

The Director of Water Services, Sipho Mosai, is to sign a Quality Policy Statement, as part of the first phase to get the ISO 17025 accreditation for the City of Cape Town's Scientific Services Department.

The aim of the accreditation process is to align the City's sophisticated laboratory services to world standards within the next three years. The final ISO accreditation will ensure accurate, reliable and quality analysis of various services.

All media are invited to the signing of the Quality Policy Statement.
The newly established Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) will also be launched at the event. Details are as follows:
