Statement by Western Cape Premier, Marthinus van Schalkwyk
The Western Cape Minister of Community Safety, Leonard Ramatlakane, has today been sworn in as Acting Premier because I am to be sworn in as a member of the National Assembly. Minister Ramatlakane will hold this position until such time as the election of a new Premier, by the members of the newly reconstituted Provincial Parliament, can take place.
It has been my privilege and honour to serve as Premier of this province, and I thank the members of our Provincial Cabinet, our Director-General, our Heads of Department and every member of our public service for their support and continued professionalism.
